One of the first signs of a fascist takeover is the targeting of marginalized and vulnerable groups. As we have seen over the past few years, the right has been quick to villainize the LGBTQ+ community. Protecting these communities is often criticized as a reason Democrats lose elections. I refuse to stand by and be silent just to give others a false sense of electability at the expense of others’ well-being.

As your lawmaker, I would advocate against bans on trans athletes. Politicians are failing Ohioans and using trans athletes as a scapegoat to deflect blame for the harm they themselves have caused. This will not stand with me.

I would also propose amending the Ohio constitution to codify same-sex marriage into Ohio law, ensuring that all Ohioans receive equal treatment under the law. This would reduce reliance on the Supreme Court and create stronger, more durable protections for LGBTQ+ communities.

Finally, I would work to ensure that LGBTQ+ people are explicitly included in all anti-discrimination laws, guaranteeing protections against employment and housing discrimination
